Reading Along the Rails at Seaford Manor

The cafeteria at Seaford Manor Elementary School may be a little wider than a train car, but it still provided a great setting for kindergartners to hop aboard the “Polar Express” on Dec. 21.

The annual holiday tradition continued with a reading of the Chris Van Allsburg book. Kindergartners dressed in their pajamas and grabbed a floor cushion while the conductor, Principal Debra Emmerich, went around to punch tickets.

Assistant Principal Mary Ellen Kakalos read the story aloud with images from the book appearing on the big screen behind her. Soon, there was a visit from Frosty, who gave every child a small bell to represent the iconic gift in the book. After singing “Jingle Bells,” kindergartners arrived back at the station.
