Seniors Supports Local Toy Drive
A pair of Seaford High School seniors made sure children across Long Island had a happy holiday season. Matt Sheintul and Emily Fagan collected more than 500 toys in December, which they donated to the John Theissen Children’s Foundation.
They started collecting toys back in October and created an Amazon Wish List, in which people could buy toys and have them sent to Sheintul’s house. Many community members also contributed toys. Once a week, Matt and Emily brought toys to Theissen’s office in Wantagh.
“It makes me feel really good to help out because times are tough,” said Matt, who has been volunteering with Theissen’s foundation for several years, including helping out with the annual school supply drive in the summer.
“We know it’s going to a good cause,” Emily added. “Especially now with COVID, it feels good knowing that children are getting the stuff they need for the holidays.”
