Seaford Alumni Share College Selection Tips
Less than a year removed from their days at Seaford High School, a group of college freshman returned to their old stomping grounds on Nov. 27 to share some words of wisdom. The first alumni day, organized by Assistant Principal Nicole Schnabel and guidance department Chairwoman Joanna Scordo, provided current students with an opportunity to learn from those who recently made the transition to higher education.
The eight members of Seaford’s 2019 graduating class attend colleges on Long Island and throughout the Northeast. They discussed the college application and selection process including the importance of campus visits, choosing a major and getting involved in clubs and activities.
Students attending the session included seniors, who are presently weighing their college options, and ninth graders, who learned how the next four years will ultimately impact their post-high school plans.
“It’s wonderful for students to hear from people who have been in their shoes not long ago,” Ms. Scordo said. “It’s a great insight into what college life looks like.”
