Seaford Sends 11 Vikings to College Sports Teams
After suiting up for the Vikings for several years, 11 student-athletes from Seaford High School will soon be representing new teams. The seniors made their college commitments at a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony after school on May 1, where they were joined by their families, coaches, guidance counselors and administrators.
Three members of the football squad will remain teammates next year, as Joe Angelastro, Andrew Cuchel and Paul Scacia have committed to play at Nassau Community College. From the boys lacrosse team, Ryan Butler is headed to Adelphi University and Sean Derby will attend Syracuse University.
Other athletes included Carl Bloom (New York Institute of Technology, track and field), Arianna Casha (Farmingdale State College, soccer), Luke DiCapua (Alfred State College, baseball), Victoria Ippoliti (Hofstra University, dance), Vantage Ruano (Fairleigh Dickinson University, lacrosse) and Tim Saulpaugh (Queens College, baseball).
“It's not an easy thing to make it to the next level,” said Athletic Director Michael Spreckels, who reminded the athletes to thank the people in their lives who have supported them along the way.
