Kindergartners at Seaford Manor Elementary School study the four seasons as part of the science curriculum, so they recently celebrated winter by making snow. With help from their teachers, students mixed baking soda and cream rinse conditioner. Once they put it in their hands, it became wet and cold, mimicking the feel of snow.
“Since we’ve been hoping for snow and it hasn’t come yet, we decided to make some,” teacher Dawn Plotnick said.
Teachers explained that the sensory activity fostered cooperative learning. Children could use their mixture to make snowmen and other sculpted creations.
