Middle School Drama Club to Present ‘SpongeBob’ Musical

Travel to a pineapple under the sea for Seaford Middle School’s annual drama performance, “SpongeBob the Musical: Youth Edition.” There will be evening performances on March 27 and 28. 

A cast of 47 student-actors will bring to life the popular cartoon and legendary characters. Lead actors include Samantha Juan as SpongeBob Squarepants, Delaney Cassidy as Patrick, Abby Roth as Sandy, Brielle Garcia as Squidward, Chris Falta and Plankton, Peyton Hujber as Karen, Sky Schoenberger as Mr. Krabs and Lena Bombardier as Pearl. 

There will be several dynamic musical numbers including “Bikini Bottom Day,” “Best Day Ever” and “Hero is My Middle Name.” 

The show is directed by Carly Spadafora, her first year leading the cast after previously serving as the choreographer. She is supported by assistant director Amanda Ferguson, musical director Nicholas Coacci, stage manager George Frontino and assistant stage manager Daniel Krueger. Several high school theater students are also assisting. 

“We have a phenomenal singers, actors and dancers in the cast, and their comedic timing is fantastic,” Ms. Spadafora said. “They really pulled it all together. I’m very proud of them.” 

In addition to a new director, there is also a new location. “SpongeBob the Musical” will be performed in the Seaford High School auditorium. Show times are 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, and tickets are $10 at the door.
