Made With Love for Mom at Seaford Harbor

In celebration of Mother’s Day, students throughout Seaford Harbor Elementary School took part in a variety of heartfelt activities to honor the special women in their lives. Classrooms were filled with creativity while the gymnasium was transformed into a shopping paradise.

Brooke DeSanto’s kindergartners made several handmade gifts including a paper flowerpot craft with their handprints and fingerprints, and “All About My Mom” books. Students also created coasters featuring drawings of themselves doing a favorite activity with their mothers, then used mod podge to waterproof their projects.

In Nancy Prefer’s third grade class, students planted wildflowers ahead of Mother’s Day, so they would begin to sprout by the time they were brought home as a gift. Children made sure the plants had adequate sunlight and water as they cared for them for about a week. As the final step, they tied ribbons around the flowerpots.

All students at Harbor got to stop by the Ladies Sale on May 8, which was organized by the PTA. Students got to shop for their mothers, grandmothers and other loved ones, browsing through tables of items like bath and body products, gardening tools, jewelry, magnets, mugs and pillows.
