Lucky Seven: Seaford Music Program Again Recognized Nationally
The Seaford School District has once again been nationally recognized for its outstanding music education program. For the seventh consecutive year, Seaford has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education, a distinction awarded by the NAMM Foundation.
Now in its 27th year, the BCME program spotlights and celebrates school districts and individual schools across the country for their exemplary dedication to music education. Seaford builds the foundation with general music instruction that begins in kindergarten, and students can join the band and chorus in fourth grade. The high school offers several select vocal and instrumental ensembles in addition to concert groups. The music department is also featured at several community events such as the Hot Chocolate Run, Memorial Day parade and holiday lighting ceremony.
“There’s such a deep community commitment to our music program,” said Dr. Patrick Kennedy, coordinator of fine and applied arts. “From the staff to the students to the families, everyone in Seaford is invested in the continued success of music education.”
Recipients of the 2026 BCME awards were selected through a comprehensive application process that evaluates key indicators, including funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support. To uphold the program’s rigor and credibility, all applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.
