Harbor Third Graders Shine in ‘Alice in Wonderland’

The whimsical tale of “Alice in Wonderland” was brought to life on the Seaford Harbor Elementary School stage during the annual third grade drama production on March 18 and 19. Audiences accompanied Alice on her journey during a pair of morning performances for students and an evening show for parents.

Harbor’s third grade play is a tradition dating back to the 1960s. This year, 65 students participated as members of either the cast or crew. Young actors shared lead roles, including five students as Alice and two as Mad Hatter.

Rehearsals started in January and took place afterschool twice a week. They began with theater games to learn acting techniques and become more comfortable with performance. Members of the crew made props and assisted with set changes.

Director Kayla Parisi was supported by parent volunteers Alexandra Donnelly and Michelle Gullo. Ms. Parisi, in her second year as director, said it was rewarding experience as the third graders worked hard to learn their lines and put on a good show.

“It was a really great group of students,” Ms. Parisi said. “They were very creative and dedicated.”
