Harbor Kindergartners Mark 100-Day Milestone
Counting to 100 is a goal for kindergartners and youngsters at Seaford Harbor Elementary School were able to show off their mathematical smarts during a milestone day. Feb. 11 marked the 100th day of school this year and it was filled with celebrations.
From the very first day of kindergarten until graduation, they will come to school more than 2,300 times. Hitting the triple-digit mark of that 13-year journey was a big deal. Kindergartners dressed up as if they were 100 years old, donning glasses, wigs, dresses and suspenders and paraded through the school. Students from grades 1-5 lined the hallways to cheer and give high-fives.
Back in their classrooms, students colored 100-day posters and make crowns declaring themselves 100 days smarter. There were also math centers in which kindergartners stacked 100 cups, built with 100 blocks and make gumball machines with 100 colorful stamps. Students also wrote what they would do with $100 and projected what their lives would be like at 100.
