Senior Trio are National Merit Commended Students

Three Seaford High School seniors were named Commended Scholars in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Ava Caruso, Patrick Kiernan and Jack McKenny were among approximately 34,000 students nationwide to earn the designation.

Commended Students have scored among the top 2 to 4% of all students who took the PSAT/NMSQT during the fall of their junior year. They receive Letters of Commendation for this achievement. Although they will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some may be candidates for special scholarships offered by corporate sponsors.

In addition to taking many of the school’s most rigorous courses, the three students are active in athletics and extracurricular activities. Ava is a member of the field hockey, bowling and spring track teams and a member of student governments. Patrick is in Mathletes and the marching band, and Jack is a varsity bowler. They were also all inducted in the National Honor Society.
