Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Adele V. Pecora was named Superintendent of the Seaford School District in 2017. With more than 30 years of experience in education, Dr. Pecora has previously served as an assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and a building-level administrator. She began her educational career as a high school social studies teacher.

Dr. Pecora is an instructional leader who believes that the foundation of success rests on developing strong relationships through purposeful and genuine conversations. She also believes that the job of an educator is to nurture the natural curiosities of children. This starts with creating a school environment in which children feel loved and empowered to embrace learning. Her guiding principle is to support innovative, inspirational educators who spark wonder and develop students to be avid learners and visionary leaders.

Under the leadership of Dr. Pecora, the district has experienced a transformative journey marked by innovation and excellence. During her tenure, the district has spearheaded the implementation of groundbreaking programs and initiatives such as the Electrical Training Center, Habits of the Mind, LIFT, the Personalized Digital Learning Initiative, Project Lead the Way, RULER, Seal of Biliteracy, Seal of Civic Readiness, and secondary Wellness Centers, which have revolutionized the educational landscape in Seaford, fostering critical thinking and holistic development among students.

She has also championed initiatives such as Seaford Scholars, enhancing opportunities for academic enrichment, student achievement and wellness. During her time as superintendent, the district has also prioritized the upgrading of facilities, ensuring that students have access to state-of-the-art resources conducive to learning. Notably, Dr. Pecora has exemplified a commitment to fiscal responsibility, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and transparently to meet the needs of students and educators as well as the Seaford community.

Dr. Pecora earned her doctorate from Teachers College Columbia University, her Master of Teaching degree from Tufts University and her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. Dr. Pecora comes from a family of educators. Her mother was an elementary and middle school teacher and her grandfather, as well as being an attorney, was a professor at St. John’s University. The lineage continues with her eldest daughter who is a secondary English teacher.  Dr. Pecora enjoys spending time with her family and is most proud of her three successful adult children.
