Our current Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Conboy has publicly announced his plans to retire on June 30th 2017. The Board has completed the search process led by our search firm District Wise and has selected Dr. Adele Pecora as our next Superintendent. You can find a brief bio of Dr. Pecora below.
Dr. Adele Pecora is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment K-12 in the Commack School District. Over the last six years, her focus has been to provide access and opportunity for students to acquire 21st century skills necessary for college and career readiness.
She is a native and current resident of Massapequa Park, who graduated from Massapequa High School as did her two oldest children. Her third child is currently a sophomore. Dr. Pecora received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Cornell University, a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Tufts University and a Doctorate in Education Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Early in her career, she was a social studies teacher at North Shore High School. Several years later, she returned to her hometown as the chairperson for social studies. Her administrative career also included a high school assistant principal position as well as being a director of curriculum and technology.
Dr. Pecora is honored and grateful to be selected to serve as Seaford’s Superintendent and thanks the Board of Education for their confidence in her. “During the interview process, it was apparent to me that we shared the same beliefs regarding teaching, learning and student growth. I look forward to working with the Board and the entire Seaford community to foster intellectual curiosity and expand student opportunities by providing an exemplary education program for all Seaford students.”
