- Seaford High School
- Overview
-
Students will find the science program at Seaford High School challenging, engaging, relevant and informative. It is our goal that students leave our school with mastery in the areas of Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We offer several different paths to meet that goal both through our core science courses and the elective program. We have modified our curriculum and laboratory experiences to create a safe learning environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is our hope to still put together a meaningful science experience for our students.
Our Regents level science courses are tied to the New York State Learning Standards and prepare students for the Regents Examinations in June. Students must complete at least 1200 minutes of hands-on laboratory experiences in preparation for those exams.
The Advanced level science courses cover all of the Regents curricula and are enriched with additional topics and may cover certain material in greater depth. In addition to sitting for the Regents Exam, students will be prepared to take the SAT II Chemistry Exam (an optional exam) in June.
AP Level course work provides access for students to experience college-level science and Seaford offers AP courses in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Physics. For the 2020-2021 school year, we also offer a combined Earth Science & AP Environmental Science course entitled ENVES. Students will be prepared for both the Earth Science Regents and the AP exam.
