To educate parents about the variety of special education topics including gifted & talented

To familiarize parents with the processes involved in referral, evaluation and identification of students in need of building level support services, academic intervention services and/or special education programs and/or services

To assist parents in securing a working knowledge of the roles of the Committee on Preschool Special Education and the Committee on Special Education, the development of the Individualized Education Plan, the placement of students in need of special education services in programs providing them with the individualized components of education to meet their specific needs, and/or the process involved in securing related or support services for students in need of same

To provide the student with special needs with opportunities for social, cultural and physical enrichment

To work collaboatively at increasing the knowledge of legislators, school boards and the community about special education programs and services
