• Students enter the Middle School armed with the basics of their instrument. Vocalists, wind players and percussionists further hone their musical skills by attending one small group lesson a week and a full ensemble rehearsal every other day. These rehearsals take place during the school day as part of their academic rotation. These ensembles perform two concerts a year to show off their new skills to the Seaford Community.

The Middle School offers extra-curricular activities such as Woodwind Ensemble for the flute, clarinet, bass clarinet and oboe players in all three grades. This group performs chamber music from different time periods in history at the Winter and Spring Concerts. In the past, they have played for other events such as the Women of Distinction ceremony sponsored by then-Assemblyman Thomas McKevitt.

The Jazz Band is a select extra-curricular activity composed of 6th, 7th and 8th grade band students and athletes. Students who play instruments such as guitar, bass and drum set are also welcome. The ensemble's goal is to introduce students to music genres they would not have the chance to play in a concert band setting including Swing, Funk, Latin and Rock. This group performs in both the Winter and Spring Concerts.

Drama Club is advised by the music staff as well. Students across the three grades prepare a musical to be presented each Spring. Last year, the students presented an amazing performance of the classic, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Jr.” The first musical to be performed since 2019 was a tremendous success! Drama Club will be presenting “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” this Spring.

Our mission is to foster a life-long appreciation of music making while also building on student strengths and creating a keen sense of family and community.
